As the appointed Western Australia representative on the Rugby Australia Pasifika Working Group, I was proud to help shape a national strategy that amplified Pasifika voices, cultural identity, and opportunity within the rugby ecosystem.

This working group was a direct response to the need for greater inclusion, visibility, and cultural safety for Pasifika communities across all levels of the game—from grassroots to elite pathways.

🔹 My Contributions:
Represented WA’s Pasifika communities in national consultation forums to inform Rugby Australia’s diversity and inclusion frameworks.

Co-developed the Pasifika Engagement Plan, with a focus on culturally responsive practices, inclusive communications, and equitable pathways.

Facilitated community feedback loops between Rugby WA’s Pasifika stakeholders and Rugby Australia to ensure alignment between local needs and national strategy.

Supported local clubs and schools in integrating Pasifika cultural protocols (e.g., talanoa, prayer, language use) into training, events, and governance practices.

🔹 Strategic Outcomes:
Helped launch Rugby Australia's Pasifika Strategy, now guiding inclusive policy and practice across member unions.

Advocated for leadership pathways for Pasifika coaches, referees, and administrators across WA.

Supported the introduction of Pasifika Celebration Rounds in club competitions, showcasing heritage, dance, and food as part of rugby’s fabric.

🔹 Legacy Focus:
Ensured Rugby WA's local programs (e.g. school rugby, All Abilities, and junior comps) reflected Pasifika cultural values and strengths.

Helped lay the foundation for culturally grounded leadership development among young Pasifika players and volunteers.

Strengthened cross-state collaboration between unions to address shared equity goals.
