My Professional Journey -
Senior Executive | Organisational Leader | Sport and Community Builder
I was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand, in a family where sport, service, leadership and cultural identity shaped the way I viewed the world.
My career has since developed across professional and community sport, international wine operations, organisational leadership and purpose-led projects throughout Australia, New Zealand, France and the United Kingdom.
Across more than 25 years, I have worked in demanding environments that required resilience, adaptability, sound judgement and the ability to build trust across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.
The common thread throughout my career has been leadership through action: understanding the challenge, building the right relationships and creating outcomes that can be measured, sustained and built upon.
From Athlete to Executive Leadership
My experience in sport began as a player and developed through coaching, pathway development, administration, senior management and Acting CEO responsibilities.
I played representative rugby in New Zealand, Australia, France and the United Kingdom, developing an international perspective on performance, culture and leadership.
As a coach and programme leader, I built teams, developed athletes and coaches, introduced structured performance environments and helped create pathways connecting community participation with higher levels of the game.
In senior management, I contributed to organisational strategy, participation growth, regional development, major events, stakeholder engagement and executive leadership across the Western Australian rugby system.
Highlights include:
-
Contributed to securing Perth’s first HSBC international sevens event
-
Helped develop and launch the Western Force Cup
-
Delivered 2.6% statewide participation growth during a national decline
-
Built relationships across regional Western Australia
-
Supported emerging player and coach pathways
-
Undertook Acting CEO responsibilities
-
Developed inclusive and All Abilities initiatives
International Wine Operations and Commercial Experience
My career in wine has provided extensive experience in production, quality control, operations, team supervision, compliance, inventory management, brand representation and customer engagement.
Working across wineries and wine regions in Australia, New Zealand, France and the United Kingdom strengthened my ability to lead in operational environments where quality, timing, people management and commercial discipline are critical.
This experience complements my sport leadership background by adding practical operational depth, commercial awareness and an understanding of how strong products and experiences build lasting relationships with customers and communities.
Leadership Philosophy
-
My leadership approach is grounded in clarity, trust, accountability and service.
-
Clarity means setting direction, defining expectations and aligning people around shared priorities.
-
Empathy means understanding the people behind the roles and recognising the different perspectives they bring.
-
Accountability means taking responsibility, addressing difficult issues and ensuring commitments translate into action.
-
Adaptability means responding intelligently to change while maintaining focus on the wider purpose.
-
I believe strong leadership is visible in the culture an organisation builds, the trust it creates and the outcomes it delivers.
Leadership with Lasting Impact
I have built national strategies, scaled participation programmes, mentored emerging leaders, developed community initiatives and established partnerships designed to create value beyond a single project or season.
Western Australia has been my professional home for many years, while my outlook and experience remain international.
I am now focused on senior executive opportunities where I can contribute to organisational growth, stronger culture, meaningful partnerships and sustainable community impact.
