My Professional Journey -
Transformational Leader | Champion Coach |
Global Brand Builder
I was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand, in a family where sport, service, and cultural identity shaped everything we did. My father was a Māori All Black, coach, and selector. My mother was a national netball representative. From them, I inherited more than athletic discipline — I learned the value of leading with purpose, showing up for your people, and building something greater than yourself.
Over the last 25+ years, I’ve worked across two demanding international industries — elite sport and the global wine sector — where leadership, resilience, and connection are non-negotiable. My journey has taken me across New Zealand, Australia, France, Ireland, and the UK — from vineyards in Bordeaux to boardrooms in Perth, and grassroots rugby clubs to international campaigns.
Sporting Career –
From Player to Executive
As a championship-winning player, coach, and administrator, I’ve worn many jerseys — both literally and figuratively.
-
I played high-level rugby in New Zealand, Australia, France, and the United Kingdom, known for my work ethic, tactical intelligence, and leadership on and off the field.
-
I’ve coached senior and junior teams across four countries, earning multiple championship titles and being recognised for my ability to build culture, inspire belief, and deliver performance under pressure.
-
In administration, I’ve led teams as Participation Manager and Acting CEO at Rugby WA, where I helped steer the organization through change, grow participation, and build stronger regional and First Nations pathways.
Highlights include:
-
Helping secure the HSBC Sevens tournament for Western Australia.
-
Launching the UWA Western Force Cup, which doubled school engagement within two years.
-
Building sustainable grassroots models across Midwest, Esperance, Perth Metro, and Goldfields regions.
-
Coaching championship-winning teams and mentoring future leaders of the game.
Wine Industry – Storytelling Through Brand
In the wine world, I’ve led with strategy, storytelling, and a deep respect for heritage. I’ve:
-
Represented boutique and large-scale producers from Bordeaux to Margaret River.
-
Worked across vineyard operations, marketing, and export.
-
Spearheaded national campaigns and international trade showcases in France, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand — always connecting product to people through meaningful brand experiences.
Leadership Philosophy
I am a transformational, strategic, and servant leader. I lead with:
-
Clarity – setting shared goals and transparent expectations.
-
Empathy – understanding people as whole humans, not just job titles.
-
Accountability – delivering what matters and empowering others to do the same.
My leadership approach is adaptive and impact driven. I believe in co-design, cultural intelligence, and delivering results that matter to both the people and the mission.
A Legacy of Impact
I’ve built national strategies, scaled grassroots programs, mentored emerging leaders, and created lasting partnerships. WA has been my home for over 18 years, and I bring a local heart, a national vision, and a global execution standard to everything I do.
If you’re looking for someone who can build legacy, grow movements, and unify teams — across sport, business, or community — welcome.
Let’s connect.
