As part of RugbyWA’s inclusive participation strategy, I worked alongside Rugby Australia and NRL legend Mark Gasnier to co-design and launch the TriTag Schools Program in Western Australia — a non-contact, fast-paced rugby variant tailored specifically for the education sector.

TriTag was created to remove the barriers to rugby participation, blending the skills of rugby with the accessibility and pace of touch football, supported by a three-tag belt system. This version ensured that boys and girls of all abilities could play, learn, and engage in a safe, energetic environment.

🔹 My Contributions:
Led WA program design and delivery, working directly with Rugby Australia to localise materials and structure the rollout across primary and secondary schools.

Worked closely with Mark Gasnier, leveraging his ambassador profile to promote TriTag across school networks and through local media.

Oversaw workforce training, upskilling delivery officers and ensuring consistent, quality experiences in metro and regional locations.

Introduced customised modules for All-Abilities and CALD cohorts, ensuring genuine inclusion.

Designed a school-to-club participation pipeline, enabling students to transition into community rugby seamlessly.

🔹 Delivery & Impact:
Implemented across over 50 schools in the first year, reaching 5,000+ students across Years 5–8.

Delivered in urban, regional, and remote school environments with strong engagement from school staff.

Helped shift perceptions of rugby in schools as “high-contact” by offering a fun, safe and engaging alternative.

TriTag acted as a key feeder into RugbyWA’s junior club initiatives, especially in non-traditional rugby areas.

🔹 Legacy:
TriTag is now a core element of WA’s school rugby offering, with embedded pathways and an expanded coach delivery workforce.

The success of WA’s rollout has informed national expansion efforts, with Rugby Australia adapting WA’s implementation model in other states.

The collaboration with Gasnier created powerful media moments and opened new sponsor conversations across education and sport.
